Why does Valve make great games but crap content delivery systems?

I’ve had to redownload Team Fortress 2 twice in as many days.  I just want to pop in and play a few rounds and instead I watch a download progress bar take an hour to hit 100%.

This has pretty much convinced me that not only is PC gaming a craptastic experience of spending money forever trying to buy the newest PC components but now even the content delivery systems are shit.

Seriously.  I don’t even know how a company that delivers games like Portal and TF2 allow their players to spend an hour redownloading.  I will now end up having to back up the damnded game folder because Steam corrupts it every single time I start it.  Validate this, redownload that.

You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.

Suddenly my excitement level for Left 4 Dead just halved itself in the past hour of repeatedly deleting client registry blobs before finally giving up and setting it to spend the entire night wasting electricity downloading gigs of data.

Fucking annoying.

Funky Mike Post find.

Very Rockford Files-ish, no? Guess he’s using the same synth.

The EVIL cometh!

This is exciting news.

The EVIL (Electronic Viewfinder, Interchangeable Lens) has been announced, and I’m quite happy to know it’s Olympus. That’s to be expected, considering a lot of the innovation in this space comes from Olympus (they never do get the kudos for much of it, but what can you do).

Anyway.

Yay.
