Always check the settings.

So while preparing for my trip to the Philippines I took out my trusty ol’ Nikon Coolpix 2200, a 2MP powerhouse of a pocket cam that’s small enough to barely fit into my jeans pocket and still use AA batteries (no small feat), the one I’ve had since Cancun 2004, to test.

And the LCD was not displaying preview on Auto. It would show Scenes, but not on Auto. I thought the thing had finally lost its marbles, and I went about looking for a cheap replacement. Then I added the thought of it being weather resistant, even waterproof, and things got pricy fast.

Then I decided to have a look at the 2200 once more, and realized that the few days without batteries had reset to default settings and I discovered, much to my embarassment, that the LCD preview was off because it had been set to off, and with default settings, it was back.

Well, duh.

So always check the settings, Linus. It’ll save you money.
