The Bourne Supremacy

I enjoyed it. The camera did shake a bit much, and though there was more than, say, The Rock, it was not as nauseating to view as that film. The storyline is perfectly straightforward and easy to follow, and very well-paced.

I would say Bourne Identity had better style in filming and a better plot while Bourne Supremacy’s simpler plot left room for excellent performances by all the players in the troupe. It also sported a tighter story, leaving less logistical questions than the first film (no, really, how did Bourne get from Marseilles to Zurich without a passport?).

De-Lovely

A musical, of all things. Quite nice… a celebration of a man’s genius and his foibles. The performances of Cole Porter’s songs were done quite well, some opting to do it the way Cole would have heard it, and some putting their own spin on it. Only one performance annoyed me, and that was Sheryl Crow’s Begin the Beguine… it sounded like she kept switching between first and second voice.
The love story is passable for the most part, but then you get to that one scene when Cole Porter hoarsely sings a final love song to his wife, Linda Lee Porter, “”So In Love”" from “”Kiss Me, Kate.”" That brought a tear, and it quite possibly showed the true depth of emotion that these two people shared.

Anchorman

Funny to downright hilarious, at times empty. It takes about 15 minutes for it to start up, and the last 15 drag a bit, but the middle is golden.

The Corporation

Interesting and at times scary. Too long, though… the point was made by the 75 minute mark, the next hour was extra stuff that simply made me yawn.

Spider-man 2

A truly fun movie, better than the first, and all in all a grand old time. It is now one of my favorite comic-book movies, right up there with Superman and Superman 2.

I especially enjoyed watching it at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood’s special 21+ Lounge screening, where I could walk in to the theater with drink in hand from the balcony bar; a theater where everyone is 21 or older. Screaming kids? Nay, sir! And hey, I got a free martini glas on the way out.

Today was most certainly NOT a diet day.

Today was most certainly NOT a diet day. I figure, hey, I’m at 157, that’s 18 lb less than when I started this crazy diet gig six weeks ago, so I’m okay with that.

So Han and I finally swapped the empty propane tank for a new one and bought four big slabs of rib-eye along with trimmings, and through the course of today, modestly celebrated Independence Day by stuffing ourselves silly.

Ahhhhh.
