Bring It On

Jo wanted to watch it again so I pulled it out of my library and watched it with friends last night.
Why are movies like this good to my eyes? Dunno. Don’t care.

Illegal Aliens

by Nick Pollota and Phil Foglio
One of the few books I’ve owned since high school that has survived years of wear and tear. I wish I could find another copy before this one dies on me, but it’s getting rare and expensive. The book is hilarious. Funny as hell. No, really. Honest.

First Citizen

by Thomas. T. Thomas
A decent read, nothing spectacular but something I keep on my bookshelf and read every so often. His other book, Me: A Novel of Self-Discovery, is much better.

Excavation

by James Rollins
Okay plot. Didn’t really care for the characters too much. The plot went way out onto left field in the last 50 pages, though, and the way it did was a cop out. Still a decent read, but nothing I will be rereading again.

The Big U

by Neal Stephenson
An enjoyable read. Not as good as his other work, but this was his first. And yep, he really does have problems finishing his books, evidenced here in his debut.

The Sum of All Fears.

The Sum of All Fears.

Hitting a little too close to home right now. The threat of nuclear attack looms between India and Pakistan. We still face a troubled future in the Middle East. All because of posturing, years of racial, religious, and political hatred.

I thought the world had finally come to its senses when the Cold War ended and the Berlin Wall came down. When the EU became a reality and the world’s economy boomed. But now. Now I’m nervous. I haven’t felt like this since I was very young.

The world has gotten colder. And life just became a little more precious.

The Sum of All Fears

Good movie. Builds slowly but by the third act you’re pretty sure we’re all toast. So much so that given today’s world circumstances, it wasn’t so much thrilling to watch but… frightening. Affleck still can’t command drama, and the resolution was weakened by his performance. But still.. this movie scared me.
